Retro 3D Maze

Retro 3D Maze

A first-person brick maze that walks itself — or that you solve.

An original tribute to the mid-90s desktop screen savers that wandered a corridor while nobody was watching. Leave it running and it walks the maze on its own. Switch to Play and the same maze becomes something to get out of, against the clock.

What it does

  • Screen saver mode — the camera walks the corridors by itself. Tap to leave.
  • Play mode — a joystick to move, drag to look, and an exit to find. The HUD shows your time and how many cells away the exit is.
  • Live wallpaper — the maze wanders behind your home screen.
  • Android screen saver — set it as your Daydream under Settings → Display.
  • Eleven maze algorithms, each with its own character explained in the app: recursive backtracker, Prim, Kruskal, Wilson, Eller, sidewinder, binary tree, hunt-and-kill, rooms, braid and sparse braid.
  • Five sizes, 8×8 up to 48×48, and five texture packs drawn at runtime — or point it at any image on your phone and the walls become that.
  • A floor-plan map, a hint, an autopilot that solves it for you, and a best time recorded per algorithm and size.
  • A hidden word somewhere in the settings, the way the old ones had.

Ads and privacy

Free, with ads, kept out of the way: a banner under the settings dialog, and a full-screen ad only when you come back from a maze, and only every third time. None while you are playing, none on the live wallpaper, none on the screen saver. No accounts, no sign-up, no analytics, no crash reporting — your settings and best times stay on your phone. Ads come from Google AdMob, which uses your device's advertising ID; in the EEA and the UK the app asks first, and Ad privacy in the settings reopens that choice. Full detail in the Privacy Policy.
